Invitation to the Book Launch

‘The Fly on the Wall and Other Stories’ by Ms. Shubha Sarma, IAS, published by LiFi Publications, New Delhi, will be released by Dr. Shashi Tharoor, Hon’ble Minister of State for Human Resource Development, at a function to be held at the India International Centre (Seminar Hall 1 & 2), New Delhi on 8th August, 2013 at 6 pm.

Smt. Chandresh Kumari Katoch, Hon’ble Minister of Culture, will preside over the function.

Prof. K. Satchidanandan, an internationally renowned Author, Poet and a Scholar who has written the foreword of the book will discuss the book.

The book ‘The Fly on the Wall and Other Stories’ is a collection of thirteen short tales which are firmly rooted to the Indian soil and appeal to Indian sensitivities and sensibilities. The stories, almost akin to the great Indian storytellers Munshi Prem Chand and Shri Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyay, are a revival of the old world charm. Most of her stories have powerful women characters whether as officers, wives, friends or grandmothers.

The stories provide a voice to women all over India for beneath the differences in language, customs or habits, there is an underlying similarity in the lives of women in our country. The Indianness in the stories renders them powerful and makes them immensely readable, while the surprise endings makes for an engrossing read that is practically un-putdownable.
